Here’s what was said after Paris Saint-Germain were crowned UEFA Champions League champions for the first time in their history after beating Inter Milan 5-0 on Saturday in the final in Munich.
- PSG coach Luis Enrique: “Making history was our goal from the beginning of last season. I felt this connection with the players and the fans, it was very strong and we saw it throughout the season. It’s very difficult to play an easy game like this, we managed the tension and excitement in the best way. It’s time to celebrate.”

- PSG captain Marquinhos: “I don’t have the strength anymore, I did everything I could. I wanted this so badly. We suffered, it’s been 12 years. It shows the value of the club, the desire it has. Look at everyone here and at the Parc des Princes! It’s your energy that has given us what we have achieved today. I just want to thank you and love you. I’m in love with this team, with what they do on the pitch, they have a real philosophy. I think the fans are proud. Have fun guys! I love you. We’ll be together tomorrow. It (the trophy) is ours and we’re going to bring it home.”

- PSG’s Portuguese midfielder Vitinha: “This win means a lot. It’s my dream, our dream. It’s incredible. The result is not magic. I’m happy that we did it this way, and now I’m going to celebrate.”
- Saint-Germain winger Desiré Doue, creator of the first goal and scorer of the second and third: “I can’t find the right words. Thanks to the Parc des Princes, thanks to Paris. The dream has come true. It’s amazing. It’s just amazing, I’m so happy.”

Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembele: “The final was exceptional and our journey was also exceptional, even if it was difficult in the beginning. We gained momentum, and I think we deserved this win”.

Mbappe and Macron
- Former Paris Saint-Germain and current Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe: “Finally, the big day has come. A victory that embodies the spirit of the whole club. Congratulations to PSG”.
- French President Emmanuel Macron, who will receive the European champions at the Elysee Palace on Sunday: “Champion, brother! A glorious day for PSG! Bravo, we are all proud. Paris is the capital of Europe tonight. This success marks a historic moment for French football on the European stage, and crowns the commitment of an entire club and its fans.”
“Champion mon frère! “
Jour de gloire pour le PSG!
Bravo, nous sommes tous fiers.

What did the losers say?
- Swiss international Inter goalkeeper Jan Sommer: “Of course we are incredibly disappointed, but we have to say it clearly: PSG won deservedly today. We have to accept it. It hurts. It’s very painful, it was a great opportunity to win a great title. But I’m very proud of the team. We had a great season in the Champions League.”
- Inter coach Simone Inzaghi: “We should have played better, me first and foremost. We faced a better team than us, and they deserved to win this final, in the Champions League. PSG are a better team than us on paper, we needed to play much better, but we didn’t succeed.”
“We started badly with the first goal, we couldn’t get back into the game, the distance between the lines was too big, and we conceded more goals than we’ve conceded before this season. But we can’t forget everything we’ve achieved this season (…) We’re disappointed and angry, but I have to congratulate my team on their season”.
Asked about his future, with Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal interested in signing him on a two-year contract for €50 million, he indicated that he would “discuss the matter with his management in the coming days.”

- Inter international midfielder Nicolo Barella: “PSG outplayed us, they were stronger than us in all areas, they deserved this win, they wanted it more than us, they were more determined, they were better tactically. This spoils our great run, because we only remember the last game, the wins and the trophies, but there wasn’t a five-goal difference between the two teams.”
- Inter captain, Argentine international Lautaro Martinez: “We have to congratulate PSG for their great performance in the final. We have to get up and move on. We did our best, it’s very painful, but we can be proud of ourselves.”

- Inter president Beppe Marotta: “It was a very bad night against a rival that outclassed us in everything. We feel sorry for our fans because we played a very bad game (…) but this defeat doesn’t change what we think about Simone Inzaghi and the work he has done in four years.”
