The Israeli army has issued a statement saying that it has resumed fighting against Hamas in the Gaza strip.
Reports of rockets and gunfire had emerged in the hour before the truce expired at 7 a.m. on Friday. Israel says that Hamas violated the truce by firing into Israel territory. There are now reports of heavy gunfire and shelling in the north and east of the enclave.
